These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Recibo Simples, a tax estimation and income tracking tool for freelancers in Portugal. By creating an account, you agree to these Terms.

Description of Service

Recibo Simples helps Portuguese freelancers (trabalhadores independentes / recibos verdes) track income, estimate IRS and Social Security contributions, calculate tax reserves, and receive deadline reminders. The service provides estimates only — it does not constitute accounting, legal, or tax advisory services.

User Responsibilities

• You must provide accurate information when creating your account
• You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure
• You must not use the service for any unlawful purpose
• You acknowledge that tax estimates are indicative only and do not replace professional advice from a certified accountant (TOC / Técnico Oficial de Contas)
• You remain solely responsible for filing your tax returns and meeting all obligations to the Autoridade Tributária

Subscription & Billing

Recibo Simples offers a free plan and a paid Pro plan. Pro subscriptions are billed monthly or annually via our payment processor. You may cancel at any time — access continues until the end of the paid period. Refunds are not provided for partial billing periods unless required by applicable law.

14-Day Money-Back Guarantee & Right of Withdrawal

We offer a full refund within 14 days of purchase, no questions asked. Contact us at the email address in these Terms to request one. Under the EU Consumer Rights Directive (2011/83/EU) and UK Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, you ordinarily have the right to withdraw from a digital service purchase within 14 days. By completing your purchase, you expressly request that access begins immediately and acknowledge that you waive your statutory right of withdrawal once the service has begun. Your rights under this voluntary guarantee are broader than the statutory minimum.

Account Termination

You may close your account at any time by contacting us. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. Upon termination, your data will be deleted within 30 days unless retention is required by law.

Limitation of Liability

Recibo Simples is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any financial losses, penalties, or damages arising from reliance on tax estimates provided by the platform. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Portugal. Any disputes shall be submitted to the courts of Lisbon, Portugal.

Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you via email of material changes at least 30 days before they take effect.
